Bio & Shows
Marceline Saphian is a St. Louis based artist who has worked in many mediums including oil painting, fiber and sculpture. Her current body of works consists of monoprints, collages, and mixed media pieces. She has shown and won awards in juried national, regional and local art exhibits, and has served as Art Supervisor for two public school districts. She is also represented in several art museums and corporate collections in the United States and Mexico.
Marceline’s work is an effort to share with others feelings and responses that are difficult, if not impossible to put into words. Shape and color are two defining elements of her work. Rather than copying nature, she uses it to call on inner responses to what she observes. Subject matter is a point of departure rather than a destination. One of Marcy’s interests at this time is using older work to add overlays of paint and collage.
